St Margaret's Primary School

St Margaret’s Primary School in Polmont celebrated the European Day of Languages by having food tastings for every class in school, using funds kindly donated by our Parent-Teacher Association.

The P7 children held a Language Learning Event where parents came in and tried out games and activities which we use for learning French and Spanish.  Parents and children also tasted French and Spanish food.

In the afternoon we held a whole school assembly where every class either sang a song in French or Spanish or demonstrated a game or activity which could be used in class.

Kelso High School

At Kelso High School we celebrated the European Day of Languages on 22nd September this year. Posters were all around the school and stickers were shared out across different subject faculties. Staff were very willing to greet their classes in a foreign language of their choice as well as take the register and say goodbye to them.

In modern languages classes we encouraged pupils who have knowledge of any other languages to teach their peers - and their teacher -  some of this language. We are also doing Facts about France quiz and a General Knowledge awareness about languages quiz. The prizes of stickers, and wrist bands were in great demand!

Bonne journée; schönen Tag!
